Congratulations to Andy Bouwma, Department of Integrative Biology, and Genevieve Weber, Department of Botany & Plant Pathology, on receiving Vice Provost Awards of Excellence, Online Teaching Innovation, Credit-based. Their awards were presented by President Ed Ray and Vice Provost Scott Reed at the Outreach and Engagement Colloquium. Andy developed the BI 20x Introductory Biology sequence with assistance from Genevieve Weber. The series utilizes an innovative approach to teaching biology labs online. To complete the lab component, students purchase a lab kit and do a number of experiments at home. Students write lab reports about their individual experiments and then assess their peers using the peer review software, Calibrated Peer Review. Andy and Genevieve teach two of the three sections of the course.
