Background

Biography

I am a marine scientist (biological oceanography), instructor and program developer with specializations in academic and outreach programs, online and experiential education, and student research training programs, respectively. My interests are in emerging technologies in teaching, experiential education, student research training and diversity in the sciences.

Education

  • B.S., Marine Biology, University of California - Santa Cruz.

Research

Research specialties include undergraduate student research training, HPLC, field sampling (estuary, coastal and open sea), microbiology, and plankton identification.

Teaching

I am interested in roles and collaborations that would utilize my diverse skills in developing programs bridging science, education and outreach in higher education, in particular with increasing traditionally underrepresented groups and community colleges. Specialties: Program development at K-12, Community College, and 4-year R1 universities with an emphasis on marine science, environmental science, experiential learning, student diversity and student affairs. Teaching specialty: Emerging technologies in online education, experiential education and student research training. Developing online learning communities and modalities for undergraduate research experiences.
